I am in my second week of a lengthy jury trial in Everett involving a man whose heart was burned so badly he had to have a heart transplant. It happened because a monitoring device had a design defect that malfunctioned during the surgery resulting in an over heating unit inside the heart. The company, on the eve of trial, finally conceded it was responsible, but insists the hospital is also at fault. A jury will have to determine the truthfulness of this claim and fix a reasonable and fair amount for the great harm inflicted on this innocent patient.  My days begin at 4:30 or 5:00 am and my weekends are occupied with work on the trial. The blog, therefore, has been ignored even though I would like to talk about the political situation, the obscene profits of the uncontrolled oil industry and the rudderless way in which this country is being run. It’s going to have to wait until this trial is over. Stay tuned
