The Bush Administration & Global Warming

Global warming is another, but separate problem, from ozone depletion. It concerns the escape from Earth of infrared radiation  and trapping the heat released by the Earth like a greenhouse which heats the planet. CNN reported in October 2006, that when President Bush was asked about the additional threat of global warming he claimed there was still a debate about it’s cause. The National Academy of Sciences has unequivocally stated that natural causes cannot explain the unprecedented increase of global warming. Rather, it says, "human activities are responsible for much of the recent warming." In the meantime, the U.S. has drawn worldwide criticism for failing to join the Kyoto Protocol to reduce industrial waste causing greenhouse gases. The Protocol has been accepted by every other major country in the world. But, the U.S. is by a large margin the world’s biggest polluter and cause of such greenhouse cases yet refuses to join the treaty which would restrict industry’s pollution practices. Rachel Carson’s warnings in Silent Spring are being ignored and the consequences will be imposed upon our children and grandchildren.
